Focused Catch Drill Progression – Stix Drill
Hand-Eye Coordination and Cognitive Vision Training (CVT) is for all athletes and fitness minded humans.
1. Focused Catch Drill Progression Instructions
All you need is a HECOstix® and a little space.
This drill is designed to teach Hand-Eye Coordination starting at the most basic level. It can be used with young children or for rehabilitation. In the examples below we will use the term athlete to refer to the one training, but the athlete can be young, old, amateur, professional, or in a rehabilitation program.
- First level: The trainer simply hands HECOstix to their athlete. The athlete grabs one of the colors/legs, and the trainer says the color as the athlete takes hold of it. They pass it back and forth, saying the color each time. Repeat until ready for the next level.
- Second level: The trainer says a color before the athlete grabs it. The athlete must listen and grab the correct color/leg. They pass it back and forth, calling out colors before each grab. Repeat until ready for the next level.
- Third level: The trainer gently tosses HECOstix and says a color before throwing it. The athlete catches it with both hands, then grabs the correct color/leg. Continue tossing back and forth. Repeat until ready for the next level.
- Fourth level: The trainer tosses HECOstix and says a color before throwing it. The athlete catches it directly by the correct color/leg with both hands. Continue the drill and repeat until ready.
- Fifth level: Same as level four, but the athlete must catch the correct color/leg with one hand. Repeat until ready for the next level.
- Sixth level: The trainer says the color after tossing HECOstix. The athlete must react and catch the correct color/leg with one hand. Continue until ready for progression.

3. Let’s Go
We recommend about 10–15 minutes per session, and 2–3 times a week to achieve full benefits of Hand-Eye Coordination training with HECOstix.
