Tap & Catch Drill Progression – VB Drill

Tap & Catch Drill Progression – VB Drill

Cognitive Vision Training (CVT) is for all athletes and fitness minded humans.

1. Tap & Catch Drill Progression Instructions

All you need is a Vector Ball®, a table, and 3 colored cones (red, green, blue).

This drill is designed to teach Cognitive Vision and Coordination starting at the most basic level. It can be used with young children or for rehabilitation. In the examples below we will use the term athlete to refer to the one training, but the athlete can be young, old, amateur, professional, or in a rehabilitation program.

  • First level: Demonstration of Vector Ball operation and the cognitive task. The trainer taps the ball on the table showing how it changes color (red, green, blue) with each tap, then touches the corresponding cone. Repeat until ready to progress.
  • Second level: The athlete performs the same task. They tap the ball, read the visual cue (color change), and touch the matching cone. Repeat until ready to progress.
  • Third level: The athlete gently bounces the ball, catches it with both hands, reads the visual cue, and touches the corresponding cone. Repeat until ready to progress.
  • Fourth level: Same as level three, but the athlete catches the ball with one hand before reacting to the correct cone. Repeat until ready to progress.
  • Fifth level: The athlete bounces the ball, reads the visual cue, quickly touches the correct cone, then catches the ball before it bounces a second time. Repeat until ready to progress.

And as always – go as fast as your brain can!
